Our Commitments as Christians

  • To love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. (Mat 22:37-38)
  • To prove we love Him by obeying His commands. (1 John 2:3-6, John 14:15, 21, 23-24, 1 John 5:2-3, 2 John 1:6, 1 John 3:7, Rom 1:5)
  • To love our neighbors in the same way we love ourselves. (Mat 22:39-40, Luke 10:27-28, 1 Cor 13:4-7)
  • To prove we love our neighbors as we love ourselves by providing for their needs. (1 John 3:16-18, James 2:15-17, Matt 25:35-36, Luke 10:33-34, 36-37, Luke 3:11, John 13:35)
  • To prove our faith is genuine by generously giving to those in need. (2 Cor 9:13, James 2:18, 24)
  • To fulfill what we have been created in Christ to do; good works. (Eph 2:10, Titus 2:14)
  • To give generously in gratitude for God’s generous grace. (2 Cor 9:12, 1 Tim 6:18)
  • To glorify God in our city by doing good works for our neighbors. (Mat 5:16)
  • To love “the least” of our neighbors by meeting their needs. (Mat 25:40, 35-36, Luke 9:48, 1 John 3:16-18, 2 Cor 8:13-15)
  • To honor others above ourselves and to treat them as more important. (Rom 12:10, Phil 2:3-4)
  • To consider ourselves the worst of all sinners. (1 Tim 1:15, Eph 3:8)
  • To forgive all neighbors of all sins just as God has forgiven us in Christ. (Eph 4:32, Col 3:13, Matt 5:7, 2 Cor 5:18-19, Heb 8:12, Isa 43:25, Matt 6:14-15, Matt 18:34-35, Matt 18:21-22)
  • To serve God, not money by no longer pursuing. (Mat 6:24, 1 Tim 6:6-10)
  • To store up treasure in Heaven not on Earth. (Luke 12:33, Matt 19:21, 1 Tim 6:18-19, Matt 6:21)
  • To clean our wicked hearts by doing good and giving to the poor as Jesus commanded. (Luke 11:39, 41)
  • To lead sinners to repent (believe in and obey Jesus) by preaching the Gospel in word and deed. (Mat 4:17, Acts 2:38, Acts 26:20, Rom 1:5, Heb 5:9, 1 John 3:18, John 14:11, 10:37-38)
  • To baptize in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. (Mark 16:16, Acts 2:38)
  • To lay hands on the sick, believing for their full recovery. (Mark 16:17-18, James 5:14-15)
  • To encourage believers to earnestly seek and operate in spiritual gifts. (1 Cor 14:1, 5, 1 Cor 12:8-10, 31, Rom 12:6-8)
  • To warmly welcome all people to join us and help them to do the same. (Luke 15:1-2, Luke 9:11, Heb 10:24, Titus 3:8)
